Everyone whom goes to Macau will surely visit Senado Square. The 3700m2, Senado Square is paved with a wave-patterned mosaic of coloured stones, created by Portuguese experts. From the main road to the church of St. Dominic, the pavement extends to the ruins of St. Paul's, making the heart of the city a pedestrian paradise.
This is my second visit to the Senado Square and I always wanted to visit it again as I didn't manage to take a good photograph of ruins of St. Paul the last time round due to my camera going haywire while I was in Macau last year (2007).
As I was there on a weekend this time round, it was more crowded when compared to the previous time I was there on a weekday. At Senado Square, there are some stores for shopping and food outlets. On the slope leading to the ruins of St. Paul, there are many stores selling their local tibits to tourists, which include almond biscuits and BBQ pork!
The last time when I was in Senado Square, I had tasted the best egg tart in my life, thus I not going to miss it this time round. Instead of take-away, I decided to dine in. Instead of one egg tart, I ordered 2 egg tarts!
Despite it looked the same, but I do find it not as tasty as the first time I ate it one year ago. Is the egg tart not hot enough or this being my second time tasting it thus the excitement is gone??
Nevertheless, it's still tasted so much better than those that I ate in Singapore! So soft, so crispy! After the egg tarts, I also decided to try out the famous pork chop bun!
The bun is kinda hard but I can tell you for sure, the pork chop is very very very the tasty! My friends all got the boneless pork chop while I got one with bones! Duh!
After resting my legs, quenched my thirst and filled my stomach. I continue to walked up the slope towards the ruins of St Paul. Instead of climbing up the flight of stairs, I just stayed put to take photographs as it was too crowded and the weather too hot. Finally, I've managed to take a decent photograph of the ruins of St Paul. Yippeeee!!! ^-^
On 20 April 2005, I picked up my courage, took up the challenge and started this blog!
It wasn't an easy path (please, believe me!) but I still managed to make it through the first year; then the second year and now I just blogged past the third year!!!
In the running into the third year, I added myself into T.H.H.C.™ and joined Wordless Wednesday franchise! Being invited to the anniversary party of Nuffnang and Yebber!! I even made a bold move to crack an April Fool's joke on my readers!
I must admit that I had changed the way of blogging in a way that it's targeted to the masses instead of just typing every details of what I did, where I went ... filtering away some details ... I'm not sure if any of you had noticed? So is this an improvement or? In some way, blogging had improved myself as a person, standard of English and photography?
In these 3 years, blogging allowed me to make many new friends, although we might not had met each other before (less said spoken to each other face-to-face!) but some communication through leaving comments in each other blogs made us friends, right? I hope I will continue to make many more new friends ...
Nevertheless, I wanted to thank the faithful readers whom kept showing support as they kept coming back for more and also some alumni whom came then went missing (Maybe they found somewhere more interesting!!). I guess the faithful readers and alumni should know whom they are as I don't want to come out with a list and missed out on anyone.
Anyway, I also wanted to thank BLOG2u.sg for selecting me as their featured blogger of the week! Many thanks to Shirley and her Blog2u team for featuring me.
It's my honor and a great present for the 3rd birthday of this blog!
Anyone whom jet all the way to Macau, how could you missed visiting the latest attraction - Venetian® Macao-Resort-Hotel!
Upon entering the building, I immediately transformed into a photographer as I was busy snapping away! Click! Click! Click! The interior of the building is so grand and what a beauty it is!! Simply magnificent!
The casino adopted an open concept with only security guards guarding the entrance and exit without any metal detector machine nor any inspection of the bags. While my friends decided to try their luck at the gambling table, instead I decided to venture myself into the shopping area with my camera.
While walking to the shopping area, I walked past the Venetian's food court, it is so huge and the food stalls looked so interesting as I believed that most of the food stalls are some of the popular food franchise in Hong Kong and Macau! With a glimpse of the tables of the patrons, the portion of the food are big too! It must be great dining under the beautiful "sky"!
My first stop is the St. Mark Square. Once stepping in, you would immediately feel the atmosphere of Venice. The man-made sky, the buildings, the lightings, the live performers! The gondola are managed by real human when compared to Genting First World, the person rowing the gondola will also stop mid-way and sing at the top of his/her voice! I'll let the photographs do the talking ....
While walking around, I received an unexpected sms from Seefei whom asked me: "Do we need visa to go to Macau?" I replied him: "No, in fact I'm replying you this in Venetian, Macau!"
It was a surprise to see my favorite football club Manchester United has a store in Venetian which all sorts of merchandises related to the club, some looked interesting while the price did not and it's not cheaper when compared to Singapore thus I didn't buy any of the merchandises. I also managed to look at the 1999 Champion League, Premier League and FA Cup trophies on display.
Actually it was interesting initially taking photographs of the buildings inside Venetian but as the journey goes on, you will get bored with all the buildings looking the same one after another. Nevertheless, it's still quite an experience!
Well, I'm not so sure if Hotmail decided to make a fool out of me on 2 April 2008, but this is the error message "You have sent the maximum number of messages allowed in a 24-hour period. To save this message to send later, click Save draft above." that I encounter when I tried to reply an email on 2 April 2008. Trust me, it lasted for a few hours before everything get back to normal.
Hello everybody, I'm back from my hiatus!! Did anyone missed me? I guessed not. Never mind, I went "flying" for my hiatus to nurse my broken heart, the trip considered okay, nevertheless return with a broken heart still. Sigh!
I set off on Tiger Airways to Macao International Airport on 5 April 2008 before take a speedy taxi that drift to Gongbei Custom to cross over to Zhuhai, China. I brought my windbreaker along but came to no used as it's so sunny over there!
Went for a late lunch after unloading our luggages at the hotel, then went for body massage to ease the jet lag! Went around shopping and checking out the area, will lots of time to kill and money to spend, I went ahead and did my first facial.... all for just ¥ 50 which includes wash, clean, steam, clearing of black heads (damn, I had lots of those on my forehead and nose), facial mask and head massage!!! It took almost 1.5 hours to complete the whole process.
It do take a while to get used to hot steam blowing at my nostrils, and cucumber facial mask applied on me which I could not have major facial expressions while the mask dried up. The removal of the black heads was more painful on the nose. Nevertheless, the chit chatting with the beautician from Guandong ease all the pain and discomfort.
I even bought a moisturizer that cost ¥138 to apply on my face day and night to protect the newly cleaned face of mine. Just looked at all the red spots and you can imagine how many black heads had been cleared from my face! It was a memorable experience and it must be effective that wherever I goes, people called me handsome - "亮仔" and babes asking me to bring them "home". Even when walking down the rows of drinks stall that sells beer and fruit juice, the babes will shouted out loud: "帅哥,这里有位,过来喝一杯吗?" It's like walking past as if I'm a superstar!! Before you start to puke, every male is a "亮仔" there ... hahahahahaha
It's such a "shiok shiok" feeling that I went back for a second facial two days later. *giggle*
Everything is cheap there, especially the food... for SIN$20+, you would have a whole table full of large portion dishes! One thing must try is the BBQ roadside hawkers, their food is great and cheap, especially the giant oyster! *wipe away saliva* However, you will have to withstand kids asking for money, "mother" carrying baby asking for money, granny asking for money, even sisters carrying a guitar whom hope to sing for you. Sigh!
Just pretty fresh from attending the 1st birthday of Nuffnang in Kuala Lumpur, I was pretty honored to be invited to Yebber's 1st birthday party at Mint Museum of Toys held on 28 March 2008 despite me being rather an in-active Yebber with only 8 reviews.
If you're not sure what's Yebber is all about. Click and play the video to know more about them!!
Let's talked about the venue first. Mint (Moment of Imagination and Nostalgia with Toys) Museum of Toys @ 26 Seah Street is the world's first purpose-built museum for toys. Showcasing an extensive collection of vintage toys, including rare and unique one-of-a-kind toys, that spans more than 25 countries over 100 years. Although I had heard and read of this place but can't didn't find time to visit it, maybe also due to the ticket price. Since I was invited for the party thus I went ahead to attend the party, visit the museum and made new friends!
Despite arriving mint slightly late and was greeted by the ever friendly Bobo (kinda said the only yebber that I'm most familiar with) at the registration counter.
Upon reaching level 3, Claudia recognize me immediately and I was thinking was it my name sticker or my face? However I still have the time to have a quick tour of the museum because the party had yet started. I paid a visit to level 2 - 4 to check out the many antique and retro toys which includes Popeye, Batman & Robin, Ultraman, Mickey Mouse, Felix the Cat, Tintin, Flinestone, Snoopy, Inspector Gadget, Dennis, Beatles, Darkies, Matchbox car collectibles and other kampung toys!
Below are some of the 40 plus photographs that I took, there are simply too many of them as I don't have the time to take photographs of the toys on every shelves in addition to being after operating time, some of the lights were off thus making taking photograph rather difficult.
At around 7:45pm, the party started as per what Claudia told me thus I rushed down to level 3. There was a launch of the Yebber video and brief history of Yebber before the start of a 6-course cocktail-style buffet dinner which consist of Parmesan Crusted Chicken, Seafood Platter (Calamari, Dory Fillet & Scallops), Bruschetta (Wild Mushrooms, Tomato Checca & Salmon Cream), and Lingini with Crab Sauce. There are even desserts!! *food menu and photographs extracted from His Food Blog!!)
Frankly said, the buffet dinner tasted so much better than those in Nuffnang party. Among them, I loved the parmesan crusted chicken and tomato checca bruschetta and I didn't get a chance to try the salmon cream bruschetta as I does not want to squeeze with the others and rather mingle with Bobo whom introduce to fellow Yebber Ambassadors - Polarbear, Kilkenny, Feizhu, TrumPat, ladyironchef and His Food Blog(?). It must be really good as it's a clear-out when I'm there for the food! I also didn't try any of the desserts as I'm already filled to the brink!
After dinner, there was the cake cutting followed by Bingo game.
Frankly speaking this is the first time I'm playing Bingo, now I started to wonder what happened to my childhood.
I was pretty close on winning in the 2 rounds of Bingo, check out my card which had a few missing numbers. Urrgggghhhh...
Nevertheless, I did manage to win a Microsoft mouse in the lucky draw. Initially I thought it's a wireless mouse, anyway a win is still a win as I didn't go home empty handed. There was also a goodie bag with a "not suitable for young" magazine in it!
All I can say, it was a smashing party with good food, good company and great prizes! Hope to catch up with you guys again!!
